Having lost on points to both Oleksandr Usyk and Deontay Wilder, Derek Chisora has offered his take on their potential heavyweight showdown.

The pair are reportedly in negotiations to collide under Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing banner, with Usyk looking to stage his last dance in America.

It came as a major story last month when the Ukrainian relinquished his WBC, IBF and WBA titles, effectively taking one step closer towards retirement.

This decision followed his 11th-round stoppage victory over Rico Verhoeven, who exceeded the majority of expectations with his commendable performance in May.

Since then, Usyk has taken the time to consider his future but, even at the age of 39, he clearly feels an urge to enter one more fight.

This, however, does not appear as though it will be a rematch with former kickboxing champion Verhoeven, who is ranked No.8 with the WBC after just two professional boxing matches.

Rather, it would seem that Usyk is closing in on a clash with former WBC champion Wilder, who comes off a split decision victory over fellow veteran Chisora.

Speaking at the post-fight press conference following their chaotic encounter in April, Chisora told media members that ‘The Bronze Bomber’ – who floored him twice – remains a formidable puncher and will ‘do well’ against Usyk.

“He’ll do well [against Usyk]. He’s got power. Wilder’s got power for the first three rounds, then he fades, but he’s always got that power. I’m not gonna take that away from him.”

Usyk scored a unanimous decision victory over Chisora in 2020, before becoming a two-division undisputed champion by dethroning Tyson Fury in 2024.
