Deontay Wilder weighs heaviest since Tyson Fury trilogy

Deontay Wilder vs Tyrrell Herndon weigh-in

FORMER world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has added an extra 10lbs to his spindly frame ahead of a must-win fight against Tyrrell Herndon.

A series of questions, not least regarding his notorious power, remain unanswered as the 39-year-old gears up for his 10-round contest at the Charles Koch Arena, Kansas.

With back-to-back defeats against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang remaining at the forefront of everyone’s minds, it is fair to say that Wilder, at this late stage in his career, has it all to prove.

Looking to derail this version of the once fearsome ‘Bronze Bomber’ in the small hours of tomorrow morning, meanwhile, is Herndon, a relatively little-known operator who, on paper, should offer minimal resistance.

Either way, it will be interesting to see how Wilder’s body responds to the extra weight which, as it happens, has taken him closer to 238lb mark he hit before losing to Tyson Fury back in 2021.
