DAZN’s Shay Segev reacts to Boxing News Power List rating

DAZN CEO Shay Segev came in at number-seven, sandwiched between seasoned deal-makers Oscar De La Hoya and Al Haymon, on Boxing News’ 2025 Power List.

The development arrives at a time when Segev has three of the sport’s leading promoters – De La Hoya, Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn – all delivering consistent shows for his platform.

Naturally, DAZN has also benefited from the heavy investment of Turki Alalshikh, whose Riyadh Season and Ring Magazine events are now integral to the streaming platform’s business strategy.

In fact, it was not so long ago that Alalshikh made a major announcement, declaring that, from November 22 onwards, every one of his shows will come with no additional pay-per-view fee.

This can only arrive as encouraging news for boxing fans, whose frustrations over the rise of pay-per-view costs, more so in recent years, have been perfectly reasonable.

But of course, the subscription model at DAZN, where an initiative called ‘The Ring Pass’ is expected to take shape, is still undergoing many twists and turns.

And until such a time comes when pay-per-view is officially ‘dead’, Segev will likely continue to grow his business with the biggest events possible.

More specifically, DAZN secured exclusive broadcast rights for Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois 2 last month and, before that, had benefited from two blockbuster encounters involving both Usyk and Tyson Fury.

But also, when considering the exodus of several major TV networks – including ESPN, HBO and Showtime in America – it must be assumed that streaming services like DAZN are only likely to go from strength to strength.

“It’s an honour to be recognised among such influential figures in the boxing world, who have all made exceptional contributions to the sport,” Segev, reacting to his entry on the Power List, told Boxing News.

“I consider this [his Power List rating] to be a reflection of the incredible work our teams at DAZN have done to elevate the sport globally.

“Boxing has always been at the heart of our platform, and we’ve worked hard to innovate how fans experience it, whether through our innovative technology, landmark global partnerships, or giving fighters a stronger voice through powerful storytelling.

“Recognition like this motivates us to keep pushing boundaries and delivering for the fans, the fighters, and the sport.”
