Ahead of his potential ring return, which is now reportedly set for early 2027, Gervonta Davis has offered to collide with one of the sport’s all-time greats.
Initially, it appeared as though ‘Tank’ would enter a comeback fight later this year, having not fought since his controversial draw against Lamont Roach in March 2025.
Floyd Schofield, at first, represented a potential opponent, only for Davis to pull out of negotiations for their ordered WBA title clash.
Instead, Schofield has now been ordered to face Lucas Bahdi for the vacant world title, with ‘Tank’ having been made the sanctioning body’s ‘champion in recess’ at 135lbs.
The 31-year-old was then in talks to collide with WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney, who has been ordered to face mandatory challenger Keyshawn Davis.
In any case, ‘The Dream’ is no longer looking to face ‘Tank’ in 2026, with it reported that the American’s advisor, Al Haymon, is expecting his client to return early next year.
According to The Ring, Davis is also eyeing a potential clash with Floyd Mayweather, his former promoter and mentor, who he has reportedly called out on social media.
“I’ll take Floyd too. Tell ‘em suit up.”
Even if the 49-year-old is to make a comeback, though, ‘Tank’ would likely come under heavy criticism for fighting a man who is nearly 20 years his senior.
