FEARS that David Haye is carrying an injury have been dismissed. A spokesman for Matchroom, who will promote Haye’s rematch with Tony Bellew, confirmed the fight is on course for December 17 as originally planned, calming concerns over a David Haye injury.

Haye has a litany of injuries and pull outs in his past. He withdrew from a scheduled bout with Wladimir Klitschko citing a back injury and complained of a damaged toe after his 2011 contest with Klitschko. Two proposed bouts with Tyson Fury had to be cancelled, after Haye suffered a cut in sparring and then when he needed surgery to reconstruct his shoulder that kept him out of the sport for years.

Rumours had swirled before his first fight with Bellew, when he appeared in Germany to require some treatment. Famously during the bout itself earlier this year he snapped his Achilles tendon before Bellew ultimately halted him.

Haye’s camp have previously explained to Boxing News why David will be fighting fit for this fight. Read on HERE.

But it’s plausible that the mind games between the two rivals will continue right up to the December 17 fight at the O2 arena in London.
