Dave Allen weighs up his options amid Joseph Parker doubts

LAST month, Dave Allen dramatically halted Johnny Fisher and is being linked to a clash with Joseph Parker as a result. However, Allen has now declared that he doesn’t believe he can beat the Kiwi.

Allen, 24-7-2 (19 KOs), was on the wrong side of a controversial split decision against Fisher in Riyadh back in December, which led to demands to meet ‘The Romford Bull’ in a rematch.

Five weeks ago, the pair ran it back, and this time there was a far more conclusive and concussive ending, as Allen scored a fifth-round knockout victory.

In the weeks that have followed, Allen has signed a deal with Matchroom Boxing. The 33-year-old has been mentioned for lucrative proposals to take on the likes of Joseph Parker and Deontay Wilder.

On his YouTube channel, Allen admitted that he doesn’t think he can beat Parker but maintained that he would accept the fight for the right money and give it his best shot.

“Do I think I can beat Joseph Parker? If I was to be completely open and honest, no, not really. I have a puncher’s chance with anybody, but am I better than Joseph Parker? No.

“Could I win one in every 100 fights against him? If I hit him, I would like to think so. Would I box him for a million pound? F***ing right I would. I would take my 99 to 1 chance for a million quid.”

Instead, Allen revealed that the fight he is hoping for, finances aside, is a chance to face Jeamie Tshikeva, 8-2 (5 KOs), for the British heavyweight title, which could soon become vacant due to David Adeleye’s clash with Filip Hrgovic.

“I’m hoping to box [Jeamie] TKV for the British title, I think that TKV is a good fighter, you know.

“A lot of people are saying to me that it’s an easy British title fight but I don’t think it is. He must have had 60 to 80 amateur fights, a bit of international experience. He has beat the best in Britain numerous times.

“I’ve watched him for a long time, I watch all of them [British rivals], he is a good fighter but stylistically I think that he is a good match for me, but I think that it is a big step up from Johnny Fisher.”

Allen continued to reaffirm that he would find it tough to turn Parker down ‘if mad money gets involved’, but it seems that ‘The White Rhino’ will wait to see if the BBBofC strips Adeleye before deciding his next fight.

The Yorkshireman also outlined that he anticipates that his return to the ring will take place in September, whether that be against Parker, TKV or another heavyweight rival.
