FAN-FRIENDLY heavyweight Dave Allen looks forward to a busy rest of this year, culminating in a potential British title shot.
The 33-year-old has captured the hearts and minds of UK fight fans, with a devastating sixth-round finish over Johnny Fisher only enhancing his compelling story.
But now, the former gambling addict hopes to define his rollercoaster career in 2025, targeting the winner of David Adeleye and Jeamie TKV’s anticipated rematch.
His destructive stoppage victory against Fisher, 13-1 (11 KOs), meanwhile, arrived last Saturday, as the ‘White Rhino’ delivered a crushing left hook to halt proceedings in emphatic fashion.
Before that, the pair squared off in a controversial encounter last December, with Allen, 24-7 (2 KOs), flooring his man before suffering a split decision defeat.
Following his victory in their rematch, though, the Doncaster man has inked a two-fight deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, returning to his former promotional stable with a bright future ahead of him.
As it happens, Hearn has already hinted at a possible main event opportunity for Allen – more than likely in Sheffield, Yorkshire – this September.
But even before that, Allen is hopeful that another fight, possibly against American campaigner Christopher Lovejoy, could materialise in the near future.
Then, towards the end of this year, a British title shot against the winner of Adeleye-TKV – which is yet to be confirmed – appears to be at the top of his list.
“The plan is to headline locally, in September, but I don’t want to wait until September,” Allen said on DAZN’s Ariel and Ade show.
“There’s a fella called Chris Lovejoy who I was meant to box five years ago… He ain’t very good, but that don’t bother me.
“If I’m going to keep busy [before September], I’d love to box him. Then, at the end of the year, if the British title is ready… I’d love to box the winner [of Adeleye-TKV 2].”
Despite the absence of an announcement, Adeleye and TKV are expected to collide later this year following their controversial encounter last month.
