Dave Allen and Arslanbek Makhmudov hit the scales

Dave Allen and Arslanbek Makhmudov hit the scales

DAVE ALLEN has weighed in ahead of his clash with Arslanbek Makhmudov tomorrow night, proudly displaying his fleshy but perhaps deceiving physique as he hopped onto the ceremonial scales just moments ago.

The two heavyweights will headline a Matchroom Boxing card at the Sheffield Arena, with fan-favourite Allen, 24-7-2 (19 KOs), claiming a home advantage following his fifth-round finish over Johnny Fisher in May.

Throughout the build-up, Makhmudov, 20-2 (19 KOs), has been billed as some James Bond villain-type character, mostly due to his rather intimidating appearance, yet it could be said that the Russian’s looks, much like Allen’s, are somewhat misleading.

Despite entering this contest as a marginal favourite, the 36-year-old has previously been exposed, largely in a defensive sense, against Agit Kabayel and Guido Vianello.

Yet even so, Allen has maintained his underdog mentality throughout fight week, firmly believing that his assignment could be one of the toughest of his storied career.

Junaid Bostan and Bilal Fawaz’s weights are to be confirmed after the MC read out the incorrect weights.
