AMERICAN middleweight Danny Jacobs took a unanimous points win over Maciej Sulecki at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday.

Jacobs put the Pole down in the final round to make sure of a victory, scored 116-111, 117-110 and 115-112. “You can’t knock everyone out but if you can put your best foot forward and the fans have an appreciation for you then that’s all that matters,” Jacobs said.

This was a first defeat for the now 26-1 Sulecki. Jacobs is now 34-2 (29).

This was an eliminator for Gennady Golovkin’s WBA title and Jacobs wants that rematch. “That’s the fight I want more than ever. I want to prove to the world that I’m the best middleweight in the world,” he declared.

He may have to wait for his shot at Golovkin though. As well as the possibility of “GGG” rematching Canelo Alvarez when the Mexican returns from his ban, the Kazakh has a more pressing mandatory for his IBF belt looming in Sergey Derevyanchenko. Those two opponents are more likely to occupy Golovkin’s time in 2018.

On the same bill as Jacobs, Katie Taylor unified IBF and WBA lightweight titles, outpointing Victoria Noelia Bustos unanimously, 98-92 and 99-91 twice. Olympic gold medallist Daniyar Yeleussinov made his professional debut, stopping Noah Kidd in three rounds.

US heavyweight Jarrell Miller also beat Johann Duhaupas. Read more HERE.
