Reigning WBO heavyweight world champion, Daniel Dubois, has halted fellow British heavyweight knockout artists, Fabio Wardley and Anthony Joshua and now ‘Triple D’ has revealed which of those former opponents was the harder puncher.
Dubois defended his IBF heavyweight world title for the first time when he scored a sensational and dominant victory over Joshua at Wembley Stadium back in September 2024; dropping the two-time heavyweight ruler on four occasions in a career-best win.
In the fight that followed, Dubois lost his belt to Oleksandr Usyk in a challenge for the undisputed throne, but he became a two-time heavyweight world champion when he bounced back from two early knockdowns and stopped WBO titleholder, Fabio Wardley, in round 11 of their May meeting.
Since then, Wardley has activated his rematch clause in an attempt to reclaim his WBO belt and bring Dubois’ second title reign to an early end, with that bout set to take place next weekend.
Now, speaking to DAZN Boxing ahead of their second encounter, Dubois picked Wardley as the hardest puncher that he has faced during his 26-fight career to date, placing him above the likes of ‘AJ’, Joe Joyce and newly-crowned IBF champion, Filip Hrgovic.
Dubois-Wardley II is set to take place on Saturday, October 17, at the O2 Arena in London, where the hard-hitting duo will be supported by a British lightweight title bout contested between Louie O’Doherty and Michael Gomez Jr on the undercard.
Meanwhile, two-time Olympic gold medallist Bakhodir Jalolov is tasked with Warley’s Solomon Dacres in an intriguing heavyweight bout, whilst amateur standout Manny Safari makes his professional debut after signing with Queensberry Promotions.
