HEAVYWEIGHT prospect Daniel Dubois is keen to leave the development and future career planning to his management team.
Dubois stands undefeated in seven pro contest, all coming by way of knockout, with the six foot five heavyweight next pencilled in for a June 23 bout against an unnamed opponent.
Making his debut against Marcus Kelly in April 2017 taking just 35 seconds to do so, Dubois has been dubbed as one to watch among a talent filled heavyweight division.
Having previously targeted the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games, the Londoner decided against it and signed with promoter Frank Warren. Seven fights into his professional career Dubois calmly agreed he is settling in well.
“I’m still moving forward I’ve got a lot to learn but so far so good,” Dubois said, reflecting on the start of his run in the paid ranks.
Dubois is joined in good company in the heavyweight division, especially domestically with the likes of Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, Dillian Whyte, Dereck Chisora , David Price, Sam Sexton, Hughie Fury and Joe Joyce.
This kind of competition does not faze Dubois, nor does it intimidate the undefeated heavyweight. In fact, the 20 year-old admires the talent surrounding his division.
“It’s livening up domestically,” he said. “There’s a lot of new challenges a lot of new faces, some coming back like Fury himself.
“And it’s livening up nicely and it will be good competition.“
Dubois has a WBC Youth and Southern Area heavyweight title to his name, but the giant has already been tipped for further title glory.
Daniel however, said he will leave the job of securing title shots down to those tasked with the job of managing him, while he continues to perform in the ring, but admitted he is not far away from the prospect of championship challenges.
“I’m leaving that all up for my management team and everyone but I think pretty soon definitely,” he said.
