Dana White has claimed that he will be “promoting” the highly anticipated heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua later this year.
The pair are set to collide in November, having been on a collision course for around eight years, though an official date and location are yet to emerge.
In the meantime, Joshua must defeat little-known heavyweight Kristian Prenga on July 25, when he headlines a show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This represents his first outing since scoring a sixth-round finish over Jake Paul in December, which preceded the tragic car accident that took the lives of his two close friends.
Following that incident, in which he was involved, ‘AJ’ has spent the last few months recovering from both a physical and psychological perspective.
Fury, meanwhile, returned to action following a 16-month layoff in April, unanimously outpointing Arslanbek Makhmudov in his first fight since suffering a second points defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.
With Joshua facing Prenga in July, though, Queensberry promoter Frank Warren has suggested that ‘The Gypsy King’ may enter another tune-up fight before they finally lock horns.
At which point, Zuffa Boxing chief White expects to be promoting the all-British event, which is set to be streamed live on Netflix.
Speaking with NinaDrama on Kick, the UFC boss claimed he will be tackling the promotional duties on behalf of Turki Alalshikh.
“I’m doing the Tyson Fury-AJ fight. I’m promoting that.”
While White could, indeed, be the promoter for Fury and Joshua’s clash, it was previously suggested that he would be fulfilling the same role for Fury-Makhmudov, only for Spencer Brown to be named as lead promoter instead.
As Warren and Eddie Hearn have deals with DAZN, neither was expected to be the named promoter on the Ring Magazine card. However, if White is at the top table, it could be the first time he has come face to face with Hearn after an ongoing war of words.
