Dalton Smith makes the first defence of his WBC super-lightweight title when he takes on two-time world champion Alberto Puello this evening.
Smith won the belt back in January when he claimed a fifth round stoppage win over Subriel Matias at the Barclays Center in New York, extending his unbeaten record to 19-0 in the process.
He was then set to meet Puello in June, before an elbow injured forced the bout to be delayed, with it now taking place tonight at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield.
Puello’s two previous world title reigns came when a win over Batyr Akhmedov back in 2022 saw him capture the WBA title at 140lbs, before wins over the likes of Gary Russell and Sandor Martin led to him earning the WBC super-lightweight title.
He now looks to get his hands on that belt once again, as he heads into enemy territory for a showdown with Smith in the Steel City.
