Terence Crawford has rejected a return to the fight game, turning down an offer to face an active world champion, believing that he is simply on a ‘different level’.
Since defeating Canelo Alvarez in September, there have been a host of fighters clamouring for the opportunity to face ‘Bud’ and potentially hand him his first professional defeat.
Nothing has transpired though, with fights against Jaron Ennis, Janibek Alimkhanuly and even a lucrative rematch with Canelo unable to lure Crawford out of retirement.
Instead, Crawford has simply laughed off any talk of a comeback, beaming proudly at how his accomplishments have made him a target, whilst in the past it was he that was desperate to land a fight against one of boxing’s biggest names.
Recently, there has been a new potential opponent calling for a shot against one of boxing’s modern greats, with newly-crowned WBC welterweight world champion Ryan Garcia being the latest fighter hoping to secure a clash with Crawford.
In an interview with FightHub, Crawford was asked if he would face Garcia in a ‘massive fight’ but stated that there is ‘nothing to entertain’ as he and Garcia are on ‘different levels’.
“Ryan is just being Ryan. It’s OK. Me and Ryan are on two different levels, so there is nothing to entertain really.”
Whilst a showdown with Crawford is out of the question, Garcia may be set to face Teofimo Lopez in July.
