Shakur Stevenson remains without an upcoming opponent after last fighting in January, and good friend and former pound-for-pound rival Terence Crawford has revealed who he would like to see Stevenson fight.
Stevenson comprehensively outboxed Teofimo Lopez en route to a unanimous decision win at Madison Square Garden in New York to get his hands on the WBO super-lightweight world title at the start of 2026, before announcing a switch to Zuffa Boxing in July – Dana White’s biggest coup to date.
Despite the move, he is yet to agree to a bout and is expected to soon be mandated to defend his belt against former IBF lightweight champion Raymond Muratalla, although reports of a potential unification with WBA super-lightweight titleholder Gary Antuanne Russell have also emerged in recent days.
However, on his X account, Crawford shared that he would like to see the Newark southpaw finally collide with Baltimore knockout artist Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, who last fought in March 2025 and last won in June 2024.
Davis’ inactivity has been down to legal issues away from the ring, but it is understood that the three-division conqueror – who was stripped of his WBA lightweight world title earlier this year – will return to action in early 2027.
Should White and Zuffa Boxing wish to make an even bigger splash next year, organising an in-demand showdown between the two American superstars would undoubtedly be their most impressive event to date, but it remains to be seen whether Davis could be tempted into the fight upon his long-awaited comeback.
