Terence Crawford has had some strong words to say about a reigning undefeated world champion.

Crawford announced his retirement from the sport earlier this month, hanging up the gloves with a perfect 42-0 record and having become world champion in five separate weight divisions, three of them as undisputed champion.

His last victory came in September when he moved up two weight divisions to defeat Canelo Alvarez, whilst he also picked up wins over fighters such as Errol Spence and Shawn Porter.

Crawford was recently on a live stream, and was asked to share his thoughts on the fight between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach, which took place back in March.

That bout ended in a controversial majority decision draw, with ‘Tank’ taking a knee during the fight after claiming he had grease in his eye, something that ‘Bud’ feels was not only a knockdown, but should have also resulted in a disqualification for Davis.

“1000% that was a knockdown, but it still should have been a disqualification. You can’t go in your own corner and your coach come up. You can’t take a timeout on yourself in boxing. You can’t say timeout and go to your corner and have your coach wipe your eyes.

“You can’t do that. Whatever it was, it wasn’t right. If it was the other side they definitely would have called a knockdown and they definitely would have took points or disqualified Roach.”

Davis is still the reigning WBA lightweight champion but it’s currently unknown what his next move will be, with his planned exhibition with Jake Paul in November cancelled at short notice after ‘Tank’ was named in a civil lawsuit regarding domestic allegations.
