Jaron Ennis is set to challenge for the unified super-welterweight world title this month, hoping to kickstart an undisputed title run, and Terence Crawford has shared whether he believes ‘Boots’ can capture all four belts at 154lbs.

Ennis claimed both the IBF and WBA world titles at welterweight, previously held by Crawford, and moved up to the super-welterweight scene back in October, where he halted Uisma Lima in the first round to announce himself as a threat to the throne.

Now, in just his second fight at the weight, Ennis is set to collide with unified WBA and WBO world champion, Xander Zayas, and Crawford told Jai McAllister that expects his fellow American to come out on top.

“Man, that is a tough fight, especially for Xander at this point in his career, but it shows his heart and his confidence that he has in himself. He is ready to go make history for his country and he is going to do real well in that fight.

“I just think that, right now, it is a little bit too early for him.”

Should Ennis be able to hand Zayas a first career defeat and claim the unified titles, the remaining champions, Josh Kelly (IBF) and Sebastian Fundora (WBC), will be his next obstacles.

Crawford believes that the road to undisputed for ‘Boots’ would likely end with Fundora.

Zayas-Ennis takes place on Saturday, June 27, at the Barclays Center in New York. Fundora comes off a stoppage win over Keith Thurman and is set for his next defence later this year, though no opponent has been named as of writing.

Kelly is expected to make his first defence of his IBF belt against Belfast’s Caoimhin Agyarko on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs Kristian Prenga on July 25.
