Terence Crawford has revealed his pick for the greatest fighter of all time.
Many fans believe that Crawford has put himself in that conversation with his recent string of results, beating the likes of Errol Spence and Shawn Porter to become undisputed at welterweight in 2023, having already accomplished that at 140lbs back in 2017.
‘Bud’ then became the first male fighter in history to become undisputed in a third division when he remarkably stepped up two divisions to defeat fellow pound-for-pound star Canelo Alvarez back in September.
Add to that his other world title triumphs at lightweight and super-welterweight, along with the speculation he could now be set to move to middleweight in search of becoming a six-division world champion, and it is clear exactly why Crawford is held in such high regard.
It is another multi-weight world champion that ‘Bud’ has as his greatest ever, as he told Club Shay Shay that he gives that honour to Floyd Mayweather.
“Floyd beats everybody… Floyd, that’s the GOAT man.
That’s a boy bad. His defence, his instincts. Floyd had the best defence in boxing history. Catching, countering, slipping, hitting you with shots you don’t see, that’s where Floyd is the master. Hit and don’t get hit.”
Mayweather retired with a perfect 50-0 record back in 2017, having become a five-weight world champion after wins over fellow greats such as Canelo, Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya to name a few.
While it may be nearly a decade since Mayweather last competed professionally, he has been linked to a shock return in recent weeks, with negotiations having taken place for a rematch with Pacquiao in 2026.
