CONOR McGREGOR believes his next fight will be a boxing match, rather than an MMA contest.

“I have my eyes on one thing and that’s Floyd Mayweather,” McGregor said in a Q&A. “Me and Floyd have got to get together and talk and figure it out the same way him and Manny [Pacquiao] figured it out. Once we come to a number, once we come to a set number that I’m happy with, he’s happy with, then we go to the customers, then we go to the promoters, the buyers, then we get it done. That’s what’s next.

“There’s a lot of steps to get through to get the fight done but it’s the fight to make. It’s the fight that people want. It’s the fight that I want.”

McGregor would be a huge underdog in the ring against Floyd Mayweather. But he spelled out how he’d approach that fight. “I’m confident going in there. I’ve got the reach, I’ve got the youth, I’ve got the confidence. I’ve got the unpredictable style. You can’t prepare for a style like me. A guy said to me why conquer one world when you can conquer two. So I’m going to go conquer two worlds,” McGregor declared.

“He needs rules to protect him. I don’t need rules.”

Mayweather gave Conor an encouraging indication when he spoke on Showtime on Saturday. “I believe the fight can happen. Conor McGregor, like I said before, he’s a tough competitor. He proved throughout the years in the UFC that he can fight standing up. So we’ll just have to see what the future holds,” Mayweather said.

But the UFC’s Dana White warned McGregor would face an “epic fall” if he tried to fight beyond the auspices of the UFC.
