SEVENTEEN months after his last ring outing, and almost 12 months after two failed performance-enhancing drug tests scrapped a money-spinning fight against Chris Eubank Jnr, Conor Benn is set to make his return to action this Saturday (September 23) in Orlando, Florida.

On a Matchroom bill topped by a super-lightweight bout between Richardson Hitchins and Jose Zepeda, Benn will reportedly box in a scheduled 10-round super-welterweight fight against Rodolfo Orozco.

Orozco, a 24-year-old from Sinaloa, Mexico, holds a professional record of 32-3-3 (24), though has yet to fight outside his homeland. In a career spanning eight years, he has lost three times – against Abraham Lopez (over four rounds), Jose Quintero Velarde (over eight), and Isaias Lucero (over 10) – and has secured few wins of any note. He did, however, turn professional at the tender age of 16 (weighing just 108 pounds), which suggests he has been learning on the job. Moreover, his height is listed as 6’1, which, while not enough to win him fights, does at least mean Orozco has filled out and will, against Benn, have height on his side.

Benn, meanwhile, is currently 21-0 (14) as a pro and will both be eager to make up for lost time and hope that action does indeed speak louder than words.

This fight, his first since April 2023, takes place at the Caribe Royale Orlando and will be shown live on DAZN.
