Shortly after his victory over Chris Eubank Jr in London this weekend, Conor Benn confirmed that he would be dropping back down to the welterweight division. He now has his sights set on another huge fight.

Despite levelling the scores against Eubank with a unanimous decision victory on Saturday night, it seems as though a trilogy showdown between Britain’s fiercest rivals will not take place, with Benn’s one-sided win removing any appetite for a third fight.

Before the rematch, Benn stated his intentions of dropping back down to 147lbs and challenging reigning champion Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight world title, regardless of the fact that he has not fought at that weight since 2022. He confirmed as much in the ring post-fight.

However, on his X account this morning, the Brit responded to Ryan Garcia recently revealing that he would ‘love’ to make a fight happen between them.

“Your head’s next then. We can run it here [in the United Kingdom] in a stadium. I’m the money man. Come get it!! Ryan Garcia.”

Benn hasn’t fought as a welterweight in over three years, but he remains ranked as the number four contender with the WBC, whilst Garcia is not yet rated having only fought once in the division in a points loss to Rolando Romero. Despite that, Garcia is in talks to face Barrios for the WBC title, meaning Benn could get his stadium fight and a shot at the green and gold belt depending on how things play out.

Fans now await any news on Barrios’ next defence and whether or not Garcia manages to land the fight, with rumours of January circulating.
