British welterweight title hopeful Conor Benn is expected to challenge Ryan Garcia for the WBC belt in the coming months, and there is now another champion in the division calling for a showdown with ‘The Destroyer’.

Despite not fighting in the 147lbs ranks since April 2022, Benn is positioned as the WBC’s mandatory challenger, with a fight against Garcia being linked ever since the American became champion against Mario Barrios back in February.

The pair are expected to collide in September, headlining a bill that will be broadcast live on Netflix as Benn seeks to prove his doubters wrong and establish himself as an elite-level operator that is deserving of his current superstar status.

Should the Brit win the belt, a mammoth unification could be waiting for him, as IBF welterweight world champion Lewis Crocker told Matchroom Boxing that Benn is amongst the names on his hit-list, providing he retains his belt against Australia’s Liam Paro later this month.

“[Ryan] Garcia, [Devin] Haney, Rolly [Romero] and [Conor] Benn. They are the names that I want. They are the biggest names in the division. Any one of them, I literally want the biggest fight possible and I know that Matchroom can get me that anyway.

“I am not looking past Paro, but that is the plan.”

Crocker is promoted by Eddie Hearn, who has had a public fallout with Benn since the 29-year-old signed for rival promoter Dana White, making the potential all-British Benn-Crocker showdown even juicier.

First, Crocker must make an inagrual defence of his title against Paro in Queensland; a bout in which he is considered to be the underdog despite being the reigning world champion.
