Chris Eubank Jr receives devastating blow ahead of Conor Benn showdown

CHRIS EUBANK JR has suffered a harsh punishment after slapping domestic rival Conor Benn with an egg at their explosive press conference.

The pair exchanged barbs in a heated war of words when they came face-to-face in Manchester, England, ahead of their middleweight dustup on April 26.

They were, of course, supposed to square off back in 2022 before Benn, 23-0 (14 KOs), failed two Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) tests for banned substance clomiphene.

Since then, ‘The Destroyer’ has been cleared to fight by the previously obscure National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP) and has now, more importantly, had his British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) licence restored.

An appropriate explanation as to how clomiphene ended up in Benn’s system, meanwhile, is still yet to emerge, with an NAPD confidentiality policy preventing the necessary information from being revealed.

There was, however, a rather bizarre explanation from the WBC in the wake of his positive tests, with the sanctioning body suggesting that his wrongdoing was caused by a heightened consumption of eggs.

And while Benn swiftly dismissed that attempt to clear his name, Eubank’s decision to crack him with an egg two weeks ago was nonetheless inspired by the WBC’s words.

In response to the incident, the BBBC has hit Eubank, 34-3 (25 KOs), with a hefty £100,000 fine after breaching Regulation 25 (misconduct) of the board’s Rules and Regulations.

Nevertheless, with both fighters earning astronomical paydays for their upcoming clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London, the 35-year-old is unlikely to lose a wink of sleep over his punishment.
