Chris Eubank Jr and Frank Warren settle defamation lawsuit

A more amicable state of affairs has been reached after Chris Eubank Jr faced legal action for his infamous comments last September.

The 35-year-old delivered a damning rant during a press conference for Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol’s first encounter, branding a selection of the UK’s leading promoters as ‘scumbags.’

Among those targeted were Eddie Hearn, Frank Smith and Kalle Sauerland, but it was Queensberry Promotions boss Frank Warren who ultimately responded with a defamation lawsuit soon after.

Warren’s decision to go down the legal route was not so much due to him being called a ‘scumbag,’ but rather, it was Eubank’s more slanderous accusations that put him in hot water.

Knowing the potential ramifications, the former world title challenger issued an apology shortly after, retracting his ‘inaccurate statements’ in a social media post.

But despite publicly accepting his apology, Warren nonetheless took legal action against Eubank, 35-3 (25 KOs), and, sure enough, has been far from his biggest fan ever since.

The Brightonian made an enemy of the Queensberry promoter ahead of his seventh-round stoppage victory over Kamil Szeremeta, with a far more lucrative outing against Conor Benn following several months later.

Throughout the build-up to their clash in April, Warren would often express his frustration when asked about the fight, hoping to see Benn knock the middleweight operator out.

But now, the pair have seemingly put their differences to one side, with Queensberry announcing via social media earlier today that both sides have arrived at an understanding.

The statement on X says: “Frank Warren and Chris Eubank Jr confirm that the defamation proceedings against Chris Eubank Jr have been settled amicably.

“With these proceedings now settled, both Frank Warren and Chris Eubank Jr look forward to a positive, professional relationship in the future.”
