Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn move closer towards finalising a deal for April

AN all-British clash between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn is set to take place in London, England, later this year.

The pair were supposed to lock horns in a catchweight contest back in 2022, before it emerged that Benn had returned two failed drug tests.

Shortly after the adverse findings were revealed by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA), the 28-year-old’s licence to box professionally in the UK was suspended.

Since then, ‘The Destroyer’ has secured two unanimous decision victories in the US, while also attempting to clear his name in the UK.

But now, it appears that his homecoming is just around the corner, with ESPN boxing journalist Mike Coppinger reporting that his clash with Eubank, 34-3 (25 KOs), is being targeted for April 26.

Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. are finalizing a deal for an April 26 fight in London, sources tell ESPN. The long-awaited UK grudge match will be contested at 160 pounds with a rehydration clause of 170 for the same-day weigh-in.

Benn, 23-0 (14 KOs), after all, has been cleared to fight on British shores since the National Anti-Doping Panel (NAPD) lifted his suspension in November, with UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) ultimately deciding not to appeal the decision.

And so, it appears that it is now all systems go for the domestic dustup to finally take place.

Instead of meeting at a catchweight of 157 lbs, though, Coppinger has added that the pair will collide at middleweight.

Of course, 160 lbs is Eubank’s more natural weight, while Benn has predominantly campaigned at welterweight for the majority of his professional career.

A potential stumbling block for the 35-year-old, however, is that 170 lb rehydration clause has seemingly been set, preventing him from exceeding the light heavyweight limit when they step into the ring.
