Derek Chisora has announced that he will face Deontay Wilder in his 50th bout, but a victory could earn him a shot at the heavyweight throne. Now, the 49-fight veteran has revealed whether he would walk still walk away from the sport as promised if a challenge for the heavyweight title is on the cards.

Chisora was linked to a host of heavyweights throughout 2025 after overcoming Otto Wallin last February, but after many failed discussions for what he has branded his final professional contest, it appears as though ‘Del Boy’ has settled on Deontay Wilder.

Wilder’s name has been on the lips of unified heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk, and a victory over the 42-year-old Brit could well still earn ‘The Bronze Bomber’ a shot at the Ukrainian mastermind.

The in-form Chisora may spoil those plans and make his case for a rematch with Usyk, whom he lost to by just one round on the scorecards when they collided in 2020.

Although, in an interview with talkSPORT Boxing, Chisora maintained that he will still hang up the gloves, even if he is able to trump Wilder, after a stern warning from his wife.

“[I beat Wilder], then I retire, after Wilder.

“I’m telling you, listen, my wife has already told me. ‘if you strap up any more gloves, I am out’.”

Chisora and Wilder are expected to fight in April, in what would be Wilder’s second fight on British soil, 13 years after he halted Audley Harrison inside one round of their Sheffield scrap on the undercard of Amir Khan’s catchweight clash with Mexico’s Julio Diaz.
