This weekend, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium plays host to a Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn grudge match for the second time this year. Ahead of fight night, Derek Chisora has offered his prediction for the pair’s second meeting of the calendar.
Back in April, Eubank Jr was able to out-think and out-fight the brave Benn, to extend his family’s record to 2-0-1 in the fabled and cross-generational Eubank-Benn rivalry, but a quick turnaround for the rematch has many fans questioning whether vengeance is on the cards.
This time around, Eubank Jr has brought the well-respected Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, trainer of pound-for-pound superstar Terence Crawford, into his corner, in search of a more aggressive and authoritative display.
Meanwhile, Benn, who maintains that he will return to the welterweight division following this fight, has had an additional seven months to build muscle and develop a physique that better suits a middleweight affair.
In an interview with Seconds Out, heavyweight veteran Chisora revealed his belief that Benn will be able to claim redemption and that he will do so with a statement victory inside of the distance.
“Benn should win it, but Eubank is going to be tough. Benn has to win it by knockout.”
Saudi powerhouse Turki Al-Alshikh has previously stated that the victor of the Eubank-Benn duology could be installed as the next opponent for the return of Canelo Alvarez.
Should Benn level the scores here, it will be intriguing to see whether a trilogy is enforced, and if not, if he dares to move up to the super-middleweight division for a lucrative showdown with the Mexican, rather than return to the 147lb scene.
