With three weeks to go until Jake Paul takes on Anthony Joshua, the YouTuber-turned-boxer’s most recent opponent Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has offered his prediction for the fight, as Paul seeks to pull off one of the greatest upsets in boxing history.
Paul has not yet faced an active heavyweight during his 13-fight professional boxing career, with his solitary outing in the division coming against a 58-year-old Mike Tyson, who had not fought in an official pro bout for almost two decades.
Since then, ‘The Problem Child’ has dropped back down to cruiserweight, where he was tasked with another former world champion in Chavez Jr, and once again came out on top, claiming a unanimous decision against the former WBC middleweight titleholder.
As for Joshua, his last bout took place in September 2024, when he was dropped multiple times and knocked out inside five rounds by domestic rival Daniel Dubois in their IBF heavyweight title fight at Wembley Stadium in London.
On his Instagram, Chavez Jr revealed that he is forecasting another unanimous decision victory for Paul, despite the fact he is taking on a two-time heavyweight ruler and London 2012 Olympic gold medallist in Joshua.
“Paul by UD.”
Paul and Joshua’s contest will be an eight-round affair with 10-ounce gloves, topping a bill that also features unified super-featherweight world champion Alycia Baumgardner and undisputed bantamweight world champion Cherneka Johnson.
The event will be free to watch live on Netflix, and will take place on Friday, December 19, at the Kaseya Center in Miami.
