THE rematch between Chantelle Cameron and Katie Taylor could go ahead in November.

Their promoter Eddie Hearn was speaking to Matchroom’s YouTube channel while in New York a few days out from his latest card headlined by Edgar Berlanga and Jason Quigley.

It has been nearly five weeks since Cameron, the number one female super-lightweight, travelled to Ireland to wreck Taylor’s homecoming at the 3Arena in Dublin. On the night the Englishwoman proved to have that bit too much for her rival who moved up to 140lbs for the contest. Cameron came away with a deserved majority decision verdict against the 36-year-old who lost for the first time as a professional.

Cameron has said she is willing to go back to Ireland and drop down to lightweight to challenge Taylor for all her belts. Hearn did not give any details about weight or location but said this when asked what will be next for both women.

“Katie Taylor’s going to exercise that rematch clause against Chantelle Cameron.

“We’ll plan that fight for probably November time. It’s gonna be a huge fight. There was no talking her [Taylor] really into any other fight. All she wanted was the chance to rematch Chantelle Cameron. Chantelle Cameron will come into that fight as the a-side, as the favourite as well and it’ll be a massive night.”

Irish boxing fans will hope for a much more successful night should the rematch land back in their country. Last time a total of six Irish fighters fought on the Dublin card but only three won. Paddy Donovan, Thomas Carty and Caoimhin Agyarko were all victorious but for Gary Cully, Dennis Hogan and Taylor it was a night to forget.
