CHANTELLE Cameron plans on going for the jugular when she fights Katie Taylor on May 20.

These two undisputed champions meet at the 3Arena, Dublin in a homecoming for the Irish superstar. The Queen of the lightweight division is fighting in the Emerald Isle for the first time in her professional career.

The favourite is moving up in weight to challenge Cameron for her undisputed super-lightweight championship. The Northamptonian may hold all the belts but she is up against it before any punches are thrown and the difficulty is doubled when the crowd is factored in.

Cameron told Boxing News that trainer Jamie Moore will let unleash her for the biggest fight of her life.

“Jamie says this is the fight where I can really be me. There’s been other fights I’ve had to go on my back foot a little bit and he’s not really let me off the leash,” she explained.

“This fight he’s letting me off the leash and that’s why it’s going to be a good fight because people are really going to see what I can do. I’ve been held back a little bit and you see it in the corner Jamie and Nigel are just shouting at me. I’m going all guns blazing from round one [in this one].”

Drawing Taylor into a fight, just like Amanda Serrano did 13 months ago, could be her best shot at success. Cameron admits that she doesn’t want to leave it in the hands of the three judges sat in the challenger’s back yard.

BN asked Cameron if she had any concerns.

“I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t,” she answered. “[I’ve] seen it a couple of times with Delfine {Persoon] and Amanda. Very, very close fights that could have gone either way. Katie got the nod.

“I’ve got a massive task ahead of me but that’s what I’m in boxing for, big challenges. One that I think that as long as I do what I’m told do, what I’m prepared to do then it’s a no-brainer. I’m going to be victorious no matter what and won’t leave it in anyone’s hands.”
