Cecilia Braekhus withdraws from Terri Harper fight

TERRI HARPER v Cecila Brakehus is off.

Tonight, in Dublin, Harper 13-1-1 (6) was due to defend her Super-Welterweight belt against the veteran Colombian-born Norwegian. The bout was part of the Katie Taylor-Chantelle Cameron undercard at the 3Arena.

Harper’s promoters Matchroom confirmed the news on social media this morning explaining Braekhus was out of the fight because of “illness”.

Braekhus posted a video from her Twitter account today giving reasons for the late withdrawal: “Just woke up this morning with the flu. Headache, fever, ear, nose, throat, the whole thing. I felt great yesterday at the weigh-in.

“Just heartbroken. Gutted for Terri Harper, of course. Sorry to all my fans. Still want to thank Matchroom and Terri for giving me this chance to fight her. I hope we can come back and do this real soon.”

The Brit will now fight on next weekend’s card at the Manchester Arena headlined by the Mauricio Lara-Leigh Wood featherweight rematch. Further details will follow.

The Taylor-Cameron undercard still features Dennis Hogan v JJ Metcalf, Gary Cully v Jose Felix, Caoimhin Agyarko v Grant Dennis and more.
