THE next phase of Carl Frampton’s career will begin on November 18 at the SSE Arena in Belfast with new promoter Frank Warren staging the event and new trainer Jamie Moore in his corner.
“I want to be here as much as possible,” Frampton said. “Boxing is booming in Belfast and I’m just looking forward to putting on a show.”
An opponent isn’t yet in place for November 18. “We only got the deal done not that long ago so we’re still looking at opponents,” Carl said. “It can’t be a mug.”
However he will wait until next year to take on “the big boys,” people like featherweight world champions Lee Selby, Oscar Valdez or old rival Leo Santa Cruz. “A dream of mine is to box at Windsor Park. This is what I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid,” he said.
Frampton has had a frustrating 2017 so far. “It was a disastrous year for myself. I lost my first fight and my last fight fell through,” Carl continued. “It’s great to be back in Belfast. I’m looking forward to repaying the fans for showing their support in me.”
Also on the bill Jamie Conlan will challenge Jerwin Ancajas for the IBF super-flyweight title. In separate bouts two-time Olympic medallist Paddy Barnes and Zolani Tete will also box.
