Canelo Alvarez has revealed the one fight he is desperate to secure before the end of his boxing career.
Canelo is set to return to action later this month when he challenges Christian Mbilli for his WBC super-middleweight title, though there have been concerns over the October 31 clash in Riyadh due to the current unrest in the area.
Nonetheless, the bout is scheduled to go ahead as planned for now, as the Mexican superstar bids to claim world honours once again after losing his undisputed super-middleweight crown to Terence Crawford in September 2025.
It appears that Canelo knows exactly what he wants next if he is victorious against Mbilli, after telling The Ring that he is extremely keen to secure a rematch with Crawford.
“I always do good in the rematches so I hope that fight happen again. [I’ve watched it] like five times and it was very close. There was not much [in it]. Like I said, there was very little [in it] to have the win or loss. I know what happened and I know my mistakes. He is a great fighter and you need to be one hundred percent [to face him].”
.@Canelo tells me he wants the rematch with Terence Crawford more than anything; that he knows what his mistakes were after watching it back 5 times. Catch the full @ringmagazine interview with Alvarez from Usyk’s gym in Spain: pic.twitter.com/feGA3CX0xN

Canelo has previously spoken about the issues he had in the clash with Crawford, and as mentioned he has had success in rematches in the past, notably claiming two wins over Gennady Golovkin after their first fight ended in a draw.
Crawford hung up the gloves in December following his win over Canelo, so it remains to be seen whether or not he could be enticed to come out of retirement for a second meeting with his past foe, having also dismissed potential bouts against Ryan Garcia and Jaron Ennis.
