Canelo and William Scull make weight ahead of Riyadh clash

CANELO and William Scull went through the ceremonial motions to confirm their Saturday evening bout for super-middleweight undisputed. It had been confirmed earlier in the day that we had a fight, but Canelo’s weight was officially announced as 167.1lbs while Scull scaled a sprightly 166.1lbs.

The Cuban defends the same IBF title that Canelo used to own. The Mexican wants to add it back to his WBA, WBC and WBO titles to recreate the belt quartet and move on to a money-spinning fight with Terence Crawford in September.

Elsewhere on the card, former Canelo victim Jaime Munguia and his most recent conqueror, Bruno Surace, both weighed in at 167.7 lbs for their super-middleweight rematch.

Badou Jack and Noel Mikaelyan weighed in for their WBC cruiserweight title bout. Jack was a steady 200lbs, with his Armenian foe two pounds lighter at 198lbs.

In an intriguing heavyweight bout, Martin Bakole arrived at 299lbs, while Efe Ajagba, aka ‘The Silent Roller’, came in at 240lbs.

Hot prospect debutant Marco Verde came in at 158.7lbs while his opponent, Michel Galvan Polina, was 159.8lbs for their middleweight contest.

Cuban puncher Brayan Leon came in at 169.1lbs. Aaron Guerrero, 166.1lbs, will fancy he can avoid becoming the seventh KO victim.

Richard Riakporhe weighed 235 lbs for his heavyweight debut, while opponent Kevin Nicolas Espindola rolled in at a portly 297 lbs.

Saudi hope Mohammed Alakel scaled 134.1lbs for six-round contest. Opponent Alexander Morales weighed in at 133.6lbs.
