After Dana White stated that Keyshawn Davis vs Richardson Hitchins is ‘more than likely’ to happen next, Tim Bradley has weighed in on how the action might unfold.
Hitchins won the IBF super-lightweight world title against Liam Paro in December 2024, making one defence of the belt against George Kambosos Jr before vacating upon his signing with White’s Zuffa Boxing promotion.
The undefeated 29-year-old made his welterweight debut in July this year with a points win over Ricardo Salas and has been strongly linked to an intriguing clash with Davis ever since.
Davis – also undefeated – has not yet fought at 147 lbs, but it seems a smart move after consistent weight issues at 135 and 140. He remains one the US’s most promising fighters in terms of style and ability, but most fans feel still needs a big stage to prove it.
Speaking on Sean Zittel’s YouTube channel about the proposed clash, Hall of Famer Bradley says he gives ‘The Businessman’ the edge.
“Yeah [I favour Davis over Hitchins]. Slightly. He’s gonna have to be the aggressor in the fight with Hitchins, put him on the back foot, and then Keyshawn has the ability to also make adjustments and give him different looks.
“Paro didn’t give him different looks … He never switched up his entry points and Hitchins started to time him … I know that Keyshawn can for sure.”
The fight has been marked to take place on the undercard of Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua’s monumental heavyweight clash. If so, it will be the first time either man has fought in the UK.
The winner will join the upper echelon of a stacked division, where champions Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, Teofimo Lopez and Paro continue to star in some of the most high-profile bouts in boxing.
With the December 11 Cardiff show now finally official, confirmation on the supporting bouts is expected in the coming weeks, with Davis and Hitchins providing a US angle that will please broadcaster Netflix.
Elsewhere on the card, it has been reported that Manny Pacquiao is still top target for the co-main event, though not against Shakur Stevenson as originally thought.
