KELL BROOK destroyed Kevin Bizier in his latest defence of the IBF welterweight title. Brook jogged into the ring at the Sheffield Arena to a rapturous reception from his home town crowd. He wasted little time setting to work on Bizier, Brook’s mandatory challenger but a huge underdog. Brook slipped from orthodox to southpaw and jabbed methodically through the widening gaps in the Canadian’s guard.
In the second round Bizier cantered forward and Brook rocked him with a slashing right. Kell hammered his challenger into the ropes. Kevin tried to collect himself but couldn’t withstand Brook’s onslaught. Kell smashed his challenger to defeat in two rounds, becoming the first man to halt Bizier.
On the undercard Luke Campbell was also a man in a hurry. Campbell, an Olympic gold medallist, was coming back from a points defeat to Yvan Mendy in December. He tracked forward keeping his opponent, Gary Sykes, on the back foot. Campbell wobbled him badly with a whipping left and his follow up assault knocked Sykes down. Luke knew his prey was hurt and rained punches down on Sykes. Gary tried to fight back, bobbing up, but only left himself open for more punches to clatter through. Campbell hammered him to defeat with two seconds left on the clock in round two.
