CHARLIE EDWARDS warmed up for his September 10 IBF super-flyweight title shot when he defeated Jose Aguilar in Berlin, Germany.

There was more for British fans to cheer inside the Max Schmeling Halle, as the stop-start injury-ravaged career of Anthony Ogogo received a boost when he thrashed Bronislav Kubin in two rounds.

For Edwards – the English flyweight champion – it was a case of easy does it with a shot at the respected John Riel Casimero awaiting on the Gennady Golovkin-Kell Brook undercard, as he won a six-round decision somewhat effortlessly.

Ogogo, a 2012 Olympic bronze medallist, didn’t have time to waste though, and set upon his mismatched opponent from the opening bell. Kubin, 37, found himself on the floor twice in the first round and four times in the second before the slaughter was called.

Atop the card was Giovanni De Carolis’ draw with Tyrone Zeuge, with Arthur Abraham’s return to form also taking a starring role.
