Riddick Bowe says one man stands alone as the greatest heavyweight ever

Riddick Bowe thinks there is no doubt who the greatest heavyweight of all time is.

Many boxing fans may feel that Bowe himself is in that conversation, after a stellar career which saw him become undisputed champion.

He lost just one of his 45 professional contests, with that coming against Evander Holyfield, but Bowe managed to triumph against ‘The Real Deal’ in two other meetings to come out on top in their trilogy.

Bowe was part of an era that also featured the likes of Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson and George Foreman to name just a few, but ‘Big Daddy’ never shared the ring with any of those fellow greats.

Instead it is a man that transcended the sport in the 1960s and 1970s that Bowe feels is the number one heavyweight ever, after telling Ring Magazine that he views the legendary Muhammad Ali as the best to grace the banner division.

“Muhammad Ali. Nobody beat the guys he beat and did it the way he did it.”

Ali’s achievements speak for themselves, becoming a three-time world heavyweight champion and earning wins in some of the most iconic fights of all time, including the Rumble In The Jungle against Foreman, and the Thrilla In Manila against Joe Frazier.

The final record of Ali stood at 56 wins and 5 defeats from his 61 professional contests, but over 40 years on from his final bout, he arguably still remains the biggest name in the history of the sport.

Bowe isn’t the only heavyweight great to view Ali as the best ever, with current heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk also sharing the same opinion.
