BILLY JOE SAUNDERS today revealed he has joined forces with trainer Adam Booth after splitting with Jimmy Tibbs last year.

Tibbs, with the help of his son Mark, guided Saunders to the WBO world middleweight title, which he took from Andy Lee – who is also trained by Booth.

However, prior to his flawed maiden defence against Artur Akavov in December he parted ways with the veteran coach for reasons unknown at this stage.

Earlier today the unbeaten 27-year-old took to social media to reveal he is now working with Booth, best known for his work with David Haye and George Groves but who now boasts a stable consisting of (besides Saunders and Lee) Ryan Burnett, Mitchell Smith, Charlie Edwards and Lucien Reid.

Booth – widely regarded as one of the best trainers in the UK – has also had experience of working with another of Saunders’ victims, Chris Eubank Jnr, though his time with the Brightonian was limited.

Details of Saunders’ next fight are set to be revealed next week. Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez was made mandatory challenger for Billy Joe’s title, though he will instead fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr on May 6.

The Hatfield southpaw is hungry for big fights against the likes of Canelo, division kingpin Gennady Golovkin and a lucrative rematch with Eubank Jnr.
