“I THINK [Leo] Santa Cruz is going to shine in this fight,” former featherweight champion and Hall of Famer Barry McGuigan told Boxing News. “Some people are saying that [Abner] Mares will be too good and too smart, and that Santa Cruz doesn’t punch hard enough, but I think Santa Cruz will win. It will be a close, exciting fight for the first five or six rounds, but Santa Cruz will eventually overwhelm Mares with his high punch output. He might be able to stop Mares. If not, it’ll be a wide points win for Santa Cruz.”

For the full Cruz-Mares preview don’t miss the latest edition of Boxing News magazine, available to download HERE, and in all good shops on Thursday.
