Anthony Yarde restores relationship with Frank Warren ahead of Lyndon Arthur trilogy

ANTHONY Yarde and Queensberry promoter Frank Warren have seemingly resolved their contractual dispute, with the pair exchanging pleasantries on Saturday evening.

Their long-term working relationship appeared to be in jeopardy after Yarde, 26-3 (24 KOs), claimed in a social media post last June that he is now a free agent.

Warren, however, insisted that the 33-year-old was still under contract with Queensberry, despite the fact that he would fight on a rival show just four months later.

Sure enough, following more than eight months of inactivity, the former world title challenger featured on a Boxxer card last October, securing a wide points victory over Ralfs Vilcans.

Since then, it has been announced that Yarde will face Lyndon Arthur in a trilogy showdown on April 26, appearing on the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn.

The two light-heavyweights first locked horns back in 2020, with a somewhat lacklustre display from Yarde – who was forced to deal with family tragedies at the time –  allowing Arthur, 24-2 (16 KOs), to claim a split decision victory.

A more assertive performance from ‘The Beast from the East’ then saw him dispatch the awkward technician with an emphatic fourth-round finish the following year.

But regardless of his next outing, Warren has expressed his desire to bring Yarde back to the Queensberry stable later this year.

In an interview with BoxNation, with the pair sitting ringside for Derek Chisora’s clash against Otto Wallin at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England, Yarde said: “[Warren’s] been a father figure to me, and we will always be on good terms.”

Warren then added that he expects to see the Londoner on a Queensberry show before long.
