Anthony Crolla believes a fight with unbeaten prospect Luke Campbell is ‘inevitable’ should they both keep winning.

Crolla was ringside to watch the London 2012 Olympic gold medallist dominate Tommy Coyle en route to a 10th round stoppage at the KC Lightstream Stadium in Hull on Saturday [August 1].

After watching the performance, Crolla feels a domestic clash with his fellow lightweight is bound to happen.

“If we both keep winning I think it’s [a fight between the two] inevitable,” he told Boxing News.

“There’s plenty of fights domestically and on the world stage because a lot of our top domestic fighters are on the world stage.

“I’m sure a few of the top domestic fighters will fight [each other] in the near future.”

Crolla will fight WBA world champion Darleys Perez next in an immediate rematch of their closely contested draw last month, with November 21 in Manchester the most likely date and place to hold the bout.

The 28-year-old is very impressed with what he has seen from Campbell, 27, since he turned professional and believes he could already fight for a world title.

“He’s got the talent now, to fight for a world title, I just feel that he’s got time on his side,” he said.

“Let him just have a few more learning fights to make sure that once he gets there he stays there.

“The way he dealt with the pressure and the situation of fighting in his home town like that was really impressive, he’s got the mentality of a champion.

“Initially, when I found out he was turning pro, I didn’t think his style would do well in the pro game because he was so good fighting in the amateur style, but he packed some weight on and has looked brilliant so far [as a professional].”
