Anthony Crolla in hospital

ANTHONY CROLLA has suffered injuries to the head and ankle after a confrontation with burglars. He is currently being treated in Royal Oldham hospital.

Manchester’s Crolla was in the midst of training for a world title challenge on January 23. That fight, against the WBA lightweight champion Richar Abril, would have taken place at the Phones 4 U Arena in Anthony’s home town but will now be cancelled.

Crolla had secured this dream world title after a series of victories, including stirring wins over former world title challengers, local rival John Murray and former European champion Gavin Rees.
