But behind the scenes row breaks out over Lomachenko's gloves for Anthony Crolla fight

BOTH Vasyl Lomachenko and Anthony Crolla have made weight. In Los Angeles Thursday Lomachenko, the WBO and WBA lightweight champion, scaled 134.4lbs.

Crolla was 134.8lbs. The Mancunian is slightly the larger man, taller and fractionally broader round the shoulders. Lomachenko knows that, in professional terms, he is not a fully fledged lightweight – he could move back down to super-feather. But he also knows that he is so good he can defeat any lightweight in the world. It will be a huge challenge for Crolla to try to use his size to bully the brilliant Lomachenko and throw him off his game. Read the in depth analysis of what makes Lomachenko so good HERE.

There was a dispute behind the scenes as Joe Gallagher, Anthony Crolla’s trainer, objected to the gloves Lomachenko intends to use, saying they seemed too light and demanding they be weighed in front of him.

“They didn’t have a set of scales here to weigh the gloves, Joe Gallagher brought his own set of scales, which they didn’t want to particularly use,” promoter Eddie Hearn told Sky Sports. “They said they will weigh them later and Joe wants to see them being weighed. He’s well within his rights, in my opinion to see that. They are a new brand of glove, so they are not something that we’re particularly use to.”

Whether this dispute angers Lomachenko or not, it won’t disrupt the two-time Olympic champion and three weight world titlist. Expect to see him perform at his best at the Staples Center tonight.
