Angel Fierro forced to withdraw from Isaac Cruz rematch in Las Vegas

ANGEL Fierro is out of his rematch with Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz tomorrow evening in Las Vegas. The pair were all set to duke it out for a second time, on the Mario Barrios vs. Manny Pacquiao undercard.

Angel Fierro has been forced to withdraw from Saturday’s rematch with Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz, sources told @ringmagazine. The 140-pound fight was scheduled for the Manny Pacquiao-Mario Barrios PPV undercard in Las Vegas. Cruz defeated Fierro in a firefight in February.

Sources revealed to Mike Coppinger of Ring Magazine that “Fierro encountered health issues during his weight cut”. With weight issues blighting his cause, it is clear Fierro was pulled out for his own health and safety. Achieving a safe and gradual weight loss is paramount.

Coppinger followed up by stating, “Told Fierro is headed to a hospital for observation after he encountered health issues during his weight cut. Wishing him speedy recovery.”

The 140-pound clash was expected to be a barnburner as this pair had already engaged in 10 rounds of brutality back in the T-Mobile Arena on February 1.

Cruz emerged victorious on that occasion via unanimous decision, by scores of 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94. The wider scores did not represent the tight ebbs and flows of the action. Cruz appeared visibly buzzed at least once during the exchanges.

The rematch, on Amazon PPV, was expected to produce similar results, but not at the risk of Fierro’s long-term health.
