Amir Khan hung up the gloves in 2022 off the back of a loss to Kell Brook, however has he never fully shut the door on a ring return.

The British boxing great looked well past his best when he and Brook finally stepped through the ropes together, and was stopped inside six rounds. It capped off a career which saw Khan win the unified championship at super lightweight, boasting wins over the likes of Zab Judah and Marcos Maidana.

Speaking recently to Clubhouse Boxing, he was asked if his recent work around the sport promotionally had him itching to compete again, only naming Manny Pacquiao as someone who could tempt him.

“It depends on the dance partner. If it’s a dance partner I think I can do well against, or I know well, then yeah. Like a Manny Pacquiao. We’ve sparred with each other so many times.”

Khan has made it clear in recent years that he still holds interest in the fight that he could never secure as a pro, and the fact that Pacquiao competed professionally this year — a draw against WBC Welterweight World Champion Mario Barrios — and intends to do so again in 2026, makes it at least a possibility.

However, he then gave the answer most fans will want to here: other ventures are keeping him busy enough to stay retired.

“Look, I’ve been asked many times to do exhibitions or fights. I’m busy with other things now – the promotion, real estate, commentary work, TV stuff. I keep myself busy.”

While a comeback looks unlikely at this stage, Pacquiao being back in the game and being willing to fight both legends and current champions means a call out could be round the corner.
