Amanda Serrano is now tied for the record for most knockouts in female boxing following a quick win over Cheyenne Hanson.
Serrano scored a dominant second-round stoppage victory over Hanson in Texas, successfully defending her WBA and WBO featherweight world titles.
The Puerto Rican star was in control from the opening bell and quickly proved levels above her challenger, forcing the referee to wave the contest off at 2:25 of round two after a sustained barrage of punches.
The win carried added historical significance for Serrano, who recorded the 32nd stoppage victory of her professional career, drawing level with icon Christy Martin for the most KO wins in women’s boxing history.
Now 49-4-1 with 32 knockouts, the seven-division world champion continues to strengthen her case as one of the greatest female fighters of all time and appears no closer to slowing down despite a career that now spans nearly two decades.
Post-fight, she celebrated accordingly, and once again talked up the three-minute rounds which she vacated her WBC belt for back in 2023 to make happen.
“This is my time. With the three minutes we get to set up shots. I was feeling her out in the first round. But I think the three minutes gave us more time to have fun in there, and that’s what I was doing, I was having fun.
“I can break the knockout record in my next fight. I can get my 50th win and break Christy Martin’s knockout record.”
The fight was on the undercard of Holly Holm’s rematch with Stephanie Han, which once again went in Han’s favour, though controversially, topping off MVP’s third all-women’s event.
