Adrien Broner will look to jumpstart his once-promising career again.

The brash junior welterweight will take on Khabib Allakhverdiev on Oct. 3, the Russian’s promoter told USA TODAY Sports on Saturday. The bout will crown a new WBA junior welterweight champion.

Broner (30-2, 22 KOs) announced earlier this week that he would return on Oct. 3 but never mentioned an opponent. Steve Upsher Chambers informed USA TODAY Sports that he was also in the running for the bout, but he was ultimately passed up.
