A WIN for Adam Azim on Saturday night will kickstart a busy period for the 22-year-old.

The unbeaten super-lightweight returns for the first time in eight months when he faces Ohara Davies over 12 rounds at the Copper Box in London.

An ankle injury has kept Azim on the sidelines but this weekend he will no doubt look to remind people of his vast potential. Domestic clashes against Harlem Eubank and Dalton Smith could be on the horizon but the former European champion says he isn’t looking past Davies.

“My eyes are on Ohara Davies but straight after this fight I’m taking a week off,” he told Boxing News.

“I’ve got another fight straight after that as well. It’s not agreed yet but we’re looking at December time then I’ve got another fight in February so I’m back to back.

“I think for a boxer like myself, who’s just young and had 11 fights, [I need] to get my résumé a bit higher. I’ve got to keep active.”

Azim told BN that a fight against Smith, who is being lined up to fight for the vacant EBU title in December against Jon Fernandez, will happen and could do so in 2025. Smith’s recent taste of action came in March when he took care of former world title challenger Jose Zepeda in five rounds. Azim believes Davies is of a similar calibre to Zepeda.

“They’re both at world level so we’ve got a big fight here and I’ve got to focus on that,” Azim said.
