When and why you started boxing:
I went to watch my mate, Chris Higgs, box Luke Campbell in the Junior ABA final up in Huddersfield in 2005. I loved the atmosphere, so I decided to give it a go.
Favourite all-time fighter:
Ricky Hatton. He’s a good bloke and I loved the way he fought on the inside.
Best fight you’ve seen:
The bloody six-rounder between Rachel Ball and Eftychia Kathopouli. They went hell for leather and both got knocked down.
Personal career highlight:
Getting to 100 fights as a pro [with a four-round points victory over Scott Hillman in February].
Toughest opponent:
Zach Parker [l rsf 4 – July 2015] and Lerrone Richards [l rsf 3 – July 2017] were both technically brilliant.
Best and worst attributes as a boxer:
I’m quite sound defensively, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to do what I do. I can also whack a fair bit, contrary to what my record suggests! Weakness? What’s that?!
Training tip:
I’m probably the worst person you can ask for training advice! But I’d say HIIT [high intensity interval training] sessions are good.
Favourite meal/restaurant:
Food is life for me! There’s a place in Bristol called Spitfire Barbecue. It’s a BBQ shack and it’s banging!
Best friends in boxing:
It goes without saying – my manager and trainer, Richard Farnan. I also keep in touch with my former opponent, Adam Harper [l pts 8 – November 2015].
Other sportsman you would like to be:
David Beckham because girls love him, his right foot was magical and his suits are awesome! Also, Conor McGregor, as I do a good impression of him!
Last film/TV show you saw:
I tend to watch programmes like Only Fools and Horses, The Office and Gavin & Stacey.
Who would play you in a film of your life:
Tom Hardy because I look like him in the film, Bronson!
Have you ever been starstruck:
When I was warming up at York Hall once, Michael Buffer walked in with Colin Farrell. I had no idea who Colin Farrell was, but I was weirdly starstruck by Buffer.

Worst rumour about yourself:
Back when I was in the army, I returned to camp from an exercise one day and was immediately bombarded with questions on what military prison was like. People thought I’d been slammed up, when I was merely away on an exercise.
